The statue depicts the deity Yamantaka with his consort, the name Yamataka literally meaning 'The Destroyer of Yama, the Lord of Death,' a form of the wrathful Manjushri. Traditionally carved from a copper body and then gilded with 24k genuine gold. The deity is depicted with 34 arms and a sharp weapon, he has a wrathful expression. His most intriguing feature is a buffalo head with massive horns, which resembles the devil, and his many forms on top of each head with three big glazed eyes and sharp teeth. He embraces his consort in his hands while the statue is covered in a fiery halo.
